GÖTZ GRÜNBERG


was born in Coburg Germany 1968. For his father being an actor Goetz grew up in an artistic environment. He picked up the tenor saxophone at the age of 14.

After his first musical training he began to work as a musician. 

In 1991 he received a scholarship at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Ma.

1993 he received a scholarship at the New School for Social Research, Jazz and Contemporary Music in NYC. During his six years stay in New York he worked as a sideman and bandleader. 

After returning to Europe Goetz toured around, spent some time in Morocco where he did studiowork and performed at the Festival Essaouiera. After four years back in Germany he moved to Kiev, Ukraine where he spent three years extensively touring, performing, teaching.  Currently Goetz lives in Munich Germany working as a freelance musician and organizer for international Jazzprojekts funded by the city of Munich.

In the course of his career Götz Grünberg  performed with musicians such as Cecil Bridgewater, Richard Bona, Eddie Allen, Jon Davis, Ali Jackson,Matt Garrison,Chris Leitcap, Matt Penman,Orlando Marin , Tino Derado, John Schröder, Nils Wogram and many others.
